Herberto Smith is a photographer, artist and educator with a multicultural background, born in Guinea-Bissau, raised in São Tomé and Príncipe, having lived in Portugal and currently residing in Australia. Passionate about photography and visual storytelling, Herberto is dedicated to exploring the complexities of marginalized communities. With a documentary focus, his portraits reveal the nuances of youth culture, evolving identities, racial perceptions and the quest for social inclusion.

Problematics: How do you see the world today through art and photography, how do you express yourself and portray yourself, especially with regard to the Afro-descendant community in the Diaspora? Do you think photography is also a form of social activism?
Problématique: Comment voyez-vous le monde d'aujourd'hui à travers l'art et la photographie, comment vous exprimez-vous et vous représentez-vous, en particulier en ce qui concerne la communauté afro-descendante de la diaspora ? Pensez-vous que la photographie est aussi une forme d'activisme social ?
Problemática: Como vês o mundo atual através da arte e fotografia, como te expressas e retratas, sobretudo no que diz respeito à comunidade afrodescendente da Diaspora? Achas que a fotografia é uma forma também de ativismo social?
